Western Slope Citizens? Health Care Hearing
The third in a series of citizen-organized health care hearings in Colorado in 2006.
Montrose Pavilion Montrose, Colorado Saturday, September 23, 2006 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Citizen Testimony, Panels & Keynote Address by Dr. Rocky White, Alamosa Internist
Sadly, the problems around medical care confronting city dwellers in the east are often only magnified in the more rural areas of the west. The smaller western communities do not have corporations large enough to provide health care as a benefit of employment. Incomes are thousands of dollars less a year so that individuals are less able to pay for their own medical insurance. Yet prescription costs and medical bills are just as high and often higher in the west.
Cosponsors: League of Women Voters; Midwestern Colorado Mental Health Center; Community Options; Montrose County Health and Human Services; Health Care for All Colorado; Volunteers of America; Montrose Memorial Hospital; San Juan Family Physicians; the Montrose Pediatric Associates; the Masters Law Firm; the Colorado Nurses Association & the Montrose Health Partnership | Some quotes of hearing participants:
